American Date Format in PACS for UK market

Hi All,

Anyone recently been affected with an American Date format when viewing studies in PACS?

The issue is caused by the latest Visual Studio C++ Redistributable 14.40 that is being deployed by Microsoft and is causing some PACS Viewers to convert the standard date format of dd/mm/yyyy into a US format of mm/dd/yyyy.

This poses a significant clinical risk when viewing/reporting and comparing historic imaging. There is also the risk that Clinicians reviewing studies in clinic could read wrong date and provide a wrong clinical outcome that may affect patient care/treatment.

Visual C++ redistributables version 14.38 is the previous version and does not cause the issues seen in the latest update.

Good spot Farouk, it would be interesting to see if this affects all vendors or if some don’t use that package in their PACS viewers.

We have previously had reports of this with Insignia
Does anyone have any mitigations?

Hi Alex, it was our PACS Vendor who alerted us with this issue as we have Insignia PACS!

Hi Mark, The mitigation is to rollback the of Visual C++ redistributables to v14.38 or upgrade the viewers to Insight 9.4.5

Hi Mark,

We also have Insignia and are/were affected by this issue.

Advice, in the interim to an upgrade, was to apply a specific DLL patch to the PCs.

We have rolled this out and that fix works.

We will be scheduling the relevant PACS upgrade.

That is what we’re currently doing (patching DLL’s) and scheduling the InSight 9.5 upgrade.
