Hi
I’m trying to find a DICOM emulator that allows searching by hospital number.
We have always used TestSCU (Charruasoft) but that only allows searching by patient name, accession number or date/modality.
Anyone use one that can search by hospital number?
Hi Mark, it depends a bit on what you are trying to test. We’ve used ClearCanvas (open source version) repeatedly as a mediator between supplier and PACS issues (e.g. an imported MRI crashes the PACS application. The PACS supplier points to the import source, the import source says it works fine on their native PACS. Clear Canvas loads the study → the issue is with PACS). We also use Weasis for that purpose. Both these applications support searching by hospital number.
Thanks both.
We have been working with our PACS provider on a Point of Care interface - so we can start to ingest imaging from US machines that currently do not store anywhere.
It is an order-less workflow and as these patients are not touching the RIS, we can’t use the worklist connection in the same way as we normally do.
The new interface is built to recieve a patient query from the machine (via a DMWL DICOM node) using hospital number - and it then pulls the demographics from the PAS mirror and returns it back to the US machine as a worklist entry.
We need a DICOM emulator to help with housekeeping and testing.
It’s much more complex than that - but the ask is for an emulator that will allow us to query on worklist connection using hospital number.
So not a QR - we aren’t interested in the images at this point.
Got it, sorry, you want something that will let you do a worklist query based on hospital number.
Insignia Medical Systems used to supply a request card scanning application which allows you to query the worklist server based on patient ID, but none of the other usual open-source, freebie software I use can do it.
Will be interested to see other suggestions that come through.
Not sure if this helps but at the Royal Berkshire they had a similar problem. We set-up our Nexus Interface which receives a EPR/PAS HL7 feed for the patients which have scanning done but are not on the RIS. But the patients need a booking in the PAS/EPR. Nexus then provides a DMWL for the modalities.
