Pixel vs Dexel (Dels)

Hi,

I’m trying to find a clear distinction between a detector element (del) and a picture element (pixel).

Some sources of information describe flat panel detectors containing pixels , whereas other sources refer to them as dels/dexels. What’s the difference? which is most correct?

Thank you

I think that dexels are the individual sensor points on a reading pad and then this collection of responses gets turned into an image, where each dot of this image becomes a pixel. Multiple dexels can be combined to become one pixel, depending on the density of the dexels and the final image size.
