Public Comment: DICOM Supplement 223: Inventory IOD for archive migrations

DICOM supplement 223 is currently out for public comment: Inventory IOD and Related Services

This Supplement introduces a new composite Inventory IOD and SOP Classes to initiate creation of Inventory SOP Instances and to transfer/query/retrieve them.

The primary use case for this is to have a standard method of providing an index of a PACS DICOM repository to facilitate migration between providers or between systems, or when institutions merge or split.

Other use cases include for research, artificial intelligence and machine learning where bulk access to the archive is desirable.

There are open questions that the working group (WG-33) are looking for guidance on, but you are welcome to comment on any part of the proposal, including on the issues that the WG have already closed. The powerpoint presentation is detailed in what the suppliment is and isn’t attempting to do, and how it is planning to do it - the last dozen slides detail the questions they are particularly inviting comment on.

Anyone can comment, you just need to include your contact details with any comments you make.

Submit comment(s): Send your comments to Shayna Knazik (sknazik@dicomstandard.org) via free text or Word Document. Be sure to include the following information:
